Trapped

There is a world beyond the light, beyond the darkness, somewhere in between, where the shadows dwell. This world holds the nightmares, the pain, the sorrow, the longing for life...to be free...to be able to take a breath, and be freed of this liquid like substance that pulls one into it. It's a trap, you see. It's a place where the soul is reminded of it's past, it's failures. It torments the soul. It traps the soul. There is no way out. No way to escape. This is neither Heaven, nor Hell. Some scholars name it purgatory, others call it an in-between, a waiting room for souls that cannot accept what they've done in life, what their failures meant for them in life, a reminder that they aren't worthy of passing into the light, or even the dark. They are trapped. Trapped... Scholars call this place purgatory. Others call it the in-between. It is a world of shadow, and of creatures old and forgotten to mankind. Creatures that were the first of God's creations. Creatures of torture, of madness.

There's a sense that this world, which is rumored to hold these old creatures, the original creations, is a metaphor for the darkness every soul harbors within itself. Humanity hides this darkness within itself. This is not the same as the actual world of shadows. This prison was meant to hold these monsters, that some would consider the old Gods. Pagans worship them, sacrifice in their name, open gateways to allow them to come through. Why does our God allow this? Free will. We're meant to accept God into our hearts, to love our creator, but we must do so willingly. If a soul chooses to love another, to worship another, they are lead astray, and directly into this world of madness and chaos.

Oh how these creatures enjoy the chaos. They enjoy to ravage and destroy the mind that belongs to the soul. These monsters come in so many shapes, so many sizes, seemingly arriving from anywhere and everywhere...space above, the closet, under a bed...but the reality is much worse. These beings aren't things of fiction, they are not things of fantasy. These monsters are real. They exist, right now.

You see it every single day when you open your eyes. You see...our souls are trapped in a body, a prison of bone and blood and flesh...A prison of darkness and light...A prison of shadows and of hatred, pure and unwavering. Of sadness and fear... Because we are the monster. We are the shadow. We are...trapped. And the only way out? Well, that's up to you. No Pagan God, demon of Hell, angel or God of heaven, can help us. We must save ourselves to escape these shadow beings that plague us every single day. This is what it's like to be a slave to our madness...to the chaos.

There is a road for every soul, which will you choose?
