E's Friends: Spooky True Stories
Hello friends and family! So the other day, as I was messing around on Twitter, chitting and chatting (see what I did there?) with my friends and realized 'hey! We all have some pretty weird and unexplained stuff that's happened to us! And since it's the Halloween season...why don't we talk about it?' Well this is the culmination of those stories and the first part of a series that will definitely continue as long as people keep sharing their stories. It doesn't matter if you're a skeptic or if you're a believer, but what I do know for sure is that these people experienced something. They felt something. They saw something. It's unexplained and it's downright disturbing and scary. Without further ado....Spooky True Stories....
Phantom Highway - @KirkMcCall3 (Ms Kirk McCall)
"My great uncle was driving to work one night in the early sixties, I got this confirmed by a relative. He worked the midnight shift and he's driving on this back country road at night, up ahead he sees headlights and flashing lights by the side of the road. He thought about stopping but something made him keep going and he was running late. He also knew that behind him his friend and neighbor, who worked with him, were driving on the road as well. He thought either the neighbor would stop and if he didn't he would call for help when he got to work. As he was passing, he noticed the cars were from the fifties. He saw a woman, she was standing near the cars and she was trying to flag him down and running toward the car. My great uncle didn't like this and had a bad feeling so he kept going.
He is past the wreckage and he looks behind him, and there's nothing on the road. No sign of a wreck, no lights, nothing. He gets in to work and he asks his neighbor about the wreck on the road, the neighbor gave him an odd look and said "There was no wreck, there was no one on the road except for us."
Years later, I was in high school. I was on a date and we were just cruising around and talking in the car. My date and I were on that same road, flying in the opposite direction at us was a white car. They were coming into our lane, my date swerved and we went off the road a little bit. We narrowly escaped from flipping the car over. A man and his young son saw the whole thing and, of course, called in for help.
Naturally with most accidents, the police were called and they asked us what happened. We were separated and both my date and I said it was a white care that literally ran us off the road. The police and the man and his son both said that ours was the only car on the road. There was no white car, that we just all of a sudden ran off the road. My mother later told me that was the same road my great uncle had been driving on."

"When I was younger my family went to France to visit my aunt and uncle. My aunt and uncle have spent a good amount of time in France throughout my life and the promise of going places they knew and staying with people they knew was the key to convincing my father, who had a phobia of leaving the US, no seriously, to fly overseas to Europe. Since that was the kicker, we only stayed in homes of friends of my aunt and uncle. This mean we largely spent our time in random small towns, which sound idyllic and wonderful for an adult and boring as hell for a kid.
Fast forward to a weekend trip we took to a place called Saint-Rémy-de-Provence and an old house in the middle of nowhere. I’m one of nine kids, so there were people sleeping everywhere and I slept in the tub. The bathroom had a door on either end of it and was the size of a large closet. Only room for a toilet, sink and tub. One door lead into the bedroom where my parents and some kids were sleeping, the other door to a little foyer where more kids were sleeping. I was laying there when a woman comes through the closed door, stops for a second and then goes through the other door into the bedroom. She seemed distraught and I thought it was my mom. When she paused in the bathroom, I called out to her to see if she was ok. When she ignored me and went into the bedroom, I immediately got up and followed her, asking if everything was ok. When I got to the door, my first shock was that it was shut, which I hadn’t noticed. Then I was shocked when I opened it, to very loud squeaks, and the bedroom was dark and everyone was snoring away, including my mom.
The next morning I planned to tell everyone what had happened at the big communal table outside where everyone was eating breakfast. My story, however, quickly became nothing worth telling. I arrive at the table and it’s as though everyone was in the midst of an argument. People were tense, looking over their shoulders and whispering off to the side where the kids couldn’t hear. Finally, we kids had had enough and told the adults to spill the beans. It went something like this.
My aunt and uncle had gone to bed. Suddenly someone rudely wakes my aunt up. She is shocked to see a man in full Nazi uniform yelling at her in German and pushing her to get out of bed. My uncle is waking now too and now they see that several men in Nazi uniforms were milling about the room, with one pointing a gun at them and barking orders. This did not feel like a dream to them, but incredibly real and incredibly frightening. He starts pushing them out of the room, keeping that pistol at them and yelling all the way. He leads them down into the wine cellar, where my aunt and uncle see another couple they knew that was staying at the house with us also down there, also terrified. Suddenly there’s something on the radio and it becomes clear this guy is drunk because he starts laughing uncontrollably. Other Nazi’s come in and he’s telling them something. Now they’re all laughing and drinking. Suddenly someone starts shooting the casks of wine. Laughing, laughing, laughing, when suddenly that main Nazi turns and shoots my aunt in the head. She instantly wakes up and sits up and my uncle does the exact same thing at the exact same time. They seem to know that they’d both had the same experience and out of instinct they both get up and walk out the room to shake it off. The very second they walk out, so do the two across the hall that were also in the dream. They freak out and talk all night about it, which is why breakfast seemed like the tale end of a fight.
My aunt is telling this story when suddenly we all jump b/c someone had dropped a pitcher. We turn and it’s the older woman who owned the house. She is crying and has to sit down. She tells us that when she was a girl at the end of WWII, news came over the radio that the war was over. Several Nazi officers were staying nearby and they assumed the worst was over. Suddenly a group of them show up at the house. They’re all drunk and are ordering everyone up and into the wine cellar. She said she managed to hide and stay unseen while she overheard and saw what happened. The Nazis killed everyone who was at that house that day and then killed themselves, all in that cellar. She walked for miles to the nearest house and help. All four had the exact same experience that night and my lady walking through a door wasn’t shit anymore."
So there you have it for the first post in this series! What do you think? Definitely some scary stuff going on there. I mean, ghost cars running people off the roads? Nazis? There is some really messed up stuff happening in our world we cannot explain.
Do you have a scary story to share? If so, send me an email (enzoloveshorror@gmail.com) or send me a Tweet @EnzosReviews! See you next time, fiends....
